<p>Washing of the interior walls to get rid of all the dust from sanding has begun</p>
<p>Staining and varnishing of the 2nd floor bedroom floors has started.</p>

<p>The outside railings have been installed most of the way around the new base.  The remaining pieces are being fabricated and will be installed next month.</p>

<p>Prep work on the base has begun to allow the docks to be attached once they are complete.</p>
<p>The remaining outside walls that were not painted in the fall of 2008 have been finished.  The window trim will be done next month.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>The following items have been completed or nearly completed during the month of July 2009:</strong></p>
<p>The scraping of the upstairs bedrooms of old floor covering in preparation of new varnish has been completed.  All grout between the boards has also been removed.</p>
<p>The spindles for the stairs leading to the second floor have been stripped and have been primed and stained.</p>
<p>The docks are almost complete and will be taken out to the lighthouse in September.</p>
<p>The NW outside wall, with the exception of the windows, has been scraped, primed, and one finish coat applied. The NE outside wall has been scraped, and primed. The SW outside wall has had an addition finish coat over most of it.</p>
<p><strong>Upcoming jobs:</strong><br />
Paint the remaining outside walls that were not painted in the fall of 2008 and during June 2009</p>
<p>Paint the tin roof and stain the mansard shingles.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[This year, the Save Esopus Lighthouse Regatta is once again being hosted by the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club and Norrie Point Sailing Club.  This year the regatta will be a one way distance rally from the Poughkeepsie  Railroad bridge to PYC.
Help to preserve the last wooden lighthouse on the Hudson River by sailing in the Regatta.  [...]]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This year, the Save Esopus Lighthouse Regatta is once again being hosted by the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club and Norrie Point Sailing Club.  <font><font>This year the regatta will be a one way distance rally from the Poughkeepsie  Railroad bridge to PYC.</font></font></p>
<p>Help to preserve the last wooden lighthouse on the Hudson River by sailing in the Regatta.  Proceeds to benefit the restoration and preservation of the lighthouse.  (All proceeds from entry fees donated to the Save the Esopus Lighthouse Commission)</p>
<p>Following the Regatta an awards ceremony with food, refreshments and cash bar will take place at Poughkeepsie Yacht club.</p>

<p>Work has started on scraping the upstairs bedrooms of old floor covering in preparation of new varnish.</p>
<p>The kitchen was updated by the DIY network for their new series Operation Salvage.  You can find out when this will be on by checking the DIY web site.</p>
<p>The Estuary Steward was put in the water and work to get it running has started.</p>
<p>The docks have been taken to a workshop in Newburgh to be assembled and then put in the water to be attached to the light house later this summer.</p>
<p><strong>The following items are still “in progress” and on-going:</strong></p>
<p>Various windows are being repaired</p>
<p>Continuation of preparing the upstairs floors for varnishing</p>

The more volunteers the quicker we get done.  Plan to come and help.
The normal schedule is Sundays and Mondays, departing at 9:00 AM and returning about 5:00 PM.  The barge departs from the Norrie Point marina on both days [...]]]></description>

<p>Wear old clothes, bring your lunch, favorite tools and join the crew.</p>
<p>Last minute confirmation of work schedule will be available on 845-848-3669. The weekend plans will be recorded each Thursday evening and updated should there be a last minute change due to weather or what ever. Check before departing for Norrie. Leave a message if you have questions.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>The following items have been completed or nearly completed during the month of November 2008:</strong></p>
<p>Plugged the 2-3 inch gaps near the foundation to keep ice and rain out over the winter.</p>
<p>Paint and other items which should not be exposed to freezing have been taken ashore for storage.</p>
<p>The original hand rails and balusters, which had not been destroyed by vandals, have been stripped of the old paint and varnish.  They have been varnished as per original, and re-installed.</p>
<p><strong><br />
The following items are still “in progress” and on-going:</strong></p>
<p>The bedroom floors need sanding before they are varnished</p>
<p>Various windows are being repaired</p>
<p>Replacements for the destroyed balusters have been fitted. Varnishing of the replacement balusters and completion of the hand rail and baluster installation will occur in the Spring.</p>
<p><strong>Upcoming jobs:</strong></p>
<p>None for 2008.  We are now done with all restoration activities for 2008.  We will continue working in April or May 2009.</p>
