Posted by Joel on Sunday, December 14
Filed under: Lighthouse News, Restoration Updates

The following items have been completed or nearly completed during the month of November 2008:

Plugged the 2-3 inch gaps near the foundation to keep ice and rain out over the winter.

Paint and other items which should not be exposed to freezing have been taken ashore for storage.

The original hand rails and balusters, which had not been destroyed by vandals, have been stripped of the old paint and varnish.  They have been varnished as per original, and re-installed.

The following items are still “in progress” and on-going:

The bedroom floors need sanding before they are varnished

Various windows are being repaired

Replacements for the destroyed balusters have been fitted. Varnishing of the replacement balusters and completion of the hand rail and baluster installation will occur in the Spring.

Upcoming jobs:

None for 2008.  We are now done with all restoration activities for 2008.  We will continue working in April or May 2009.

Thank you for your support.
